New Look Northbridge Golf Club

Carved from the rugged sandstone escarpment overlooking Sydney’s Middle Harbour, Northbridge Golf Club provides a picturesque 18 hole par 64 challenge for members and visitors.

Originally built to provide work for the unemployed in the 1930’s Great Depression, construction of stormwater harvesting dams and design by renowned golfing architect Jim Wilshire has brought a new look to this spectacular course just 12 minutes from the Sydney CBD.

The Golf Course (situated within the sprawling Northbridge Park) is located on the Northbridge escarpment.  Surrounded by Middle Harbour the course offers spectacular water views across to Cammeray’s ‘millionaires row’, Wreck Bay and further to Quakers Hat Bay and the Spit Bridge.

The Course is the closest 18 hole golf course to Sydney city on the North Shore.  Transport by car or bus is quick and direct from the Sydney and North Sydney CBD’s and other surrounding areas including St Leonards and Chatswood rail.

Located on the Northbridge Peninsula and providing 18 varied golf holes including the internationally renowned 5th hole with a vertical drop of 40 metres!  Northbridge has a long and proud history of providing well maintained greens and with water-in-play on six holes provides the challenge and the views to make for an enjoyable golfing outing.

Practice nets, an extensive practice putting green and 24 modern golf carts support your on course outing.  Golf clubs are also available for hire.

The Club offers both golfing and social Memberships.  There is no joining fee for golfers and annual rates are highly competitive.  Social Membership is also available which allows access to the Clubhouse and bar and restaurant facilities.

Playing access:  Northbridge is a Membership Club that welcomes and encourages wider use of the facilities through open competitions and public access for social golf 7 days a week.

Visitors:  Golfers with a Golf Australia handicap are welcomed to the Tuesday, Thursday competitions and limited open Saturday and Sunday events.

The historic and heritage listed Northbridge clubhouse sits 80 metres above Middle Harbour and has a reputation for its convivial atmosphere and spectacular harbour views.  Situated on Sailors Bay Road, the bar, gaming and restaurant facilities are open 7 days a week.

Northbridge Golf Club Committed to the Environment

Recent initiatives undertaken by Northbridge Golf Club again illustrate the Club’s continuing commitment to the environment:

Several years ago the installation of a “Domus” worm farm on the course to treat waste at the halfway amenities, has worked extremely well.

In 2007/08 the Club embarked on the stormwater harvesting project, to become self-sufficient for irrigation purposes, significantly reducing the use of town water. The result is that the Club now saves up to 60 million litres of town water per annum and the transformation of the course has been nothing short of dramatic.

In 2014 the large solar panel installation on the roof of the Clubhouse, has reduced reliance on the electricity grid. The installation is subsequent to the Club changing all its internal lighting to LED bulbs in 2013.

Currently the Club is in the process of rejuvenating a large area between the 4th and 10th holes. Non-native plants and noxious weeds have been removed to be replaced with sandstone from the area together with native plantings to follow. This project forms part of the Clubs commitment to bushland management and its long term aim to return areas of Northbridge Park to their former glory.
